The UMC Utrecht’s EpiLab is a dynamic multidiciplinary research group of 15-20 passionate individuals from diverse backgrounds - neurosurgery, neurology, clinical physics, technical medicine, mathematics, biomedical engineering, psychology, and neuroscience. Our team, lead by Prof. Dr. Maeike Zijlmans (neurologist), includes bachelor’s, master’s, and PhD students, as well as international researchers who bring a global perspective to our work. We’re united by a shared mission: to understand the brain better and improve lives through cutting-edge technical innovations in a specialized field.
Collaborating closely with the UMC Utrecht Functional Neurosurgery clinical department and Stichting Epilepsie Instellingen Nederland (SEIN), we’re dedicated to clinically applied research that drives real-world impact. We focus on product development and education, aiming to revolutionize daily clinical practice. As a premium training site for Technical Medicine, we’re committed to fostering the next generation of innovators. Our group thrives in an open, friendly, and collaborative atmosphere where great ideas flourish.
